  • Born 1951 (Zlin, Czechoslovakia)
  • Mentored by MIROSLAV HAK (Group ’42); the friendship continued until his death in 1978
  • First solo exhibit at the Czechoslovak Writers Gallery in downtown Prague
  • Master of Arts degree from FAMU (Academy of Film and Television Arts), Prague
  • Met JOSEF SUDEK and filmed his last exhibit at Prague’s Museum of Applied Arts
  • Wrote and directed “GENERATION ’70”, a theatrical short about the upcoming generation of Czech photographers. The film was immediately banned by the communist authorities
  • 1981 escaped from behind the Iron Curtain with his wife and two young sons
  • Lived in Austria and Switzerland.
  • 1982 landed in Canada
  • 1983 started shooting documentaries again, mainly for CBC, TV Ontario and Vision TV
  • 1984 employed by Sheridan College in Oakville, Ontario
  • NICHES – first Canadian solo exhibit, Toronto (Ontario Arts Council grant)
  • Published in CINEMA CANADA, TAKE ONE, PhotoED and B&W magazines
  • THE LUMINOUS LANDSCAPE – contributor
